A fast-paced Australian romantic suspense with a touch of humour and a dark edge
A young woman flees England for a small seaside town in Australia after her car is forced off an icy road, almost killing her. But was it accident or attempted murder?
But once settled in her new, quiet lifestyle, fate steps in with ...
Love at first sight? No such thing.
At least, that's what handsome Tom Wentworth, Australian mining company CEO and confirmed bachelor, had thought.
That was until he met beautiful Chloe, a young woman with the face of a wanton angel, or a pre-Raphaelite innocent. He retrieved her papers when they were whirled away by a stray sea-breeze, a fortuitous introduction. After they chatted for a while, he persuaded her to join him for coffee.
She finally agreed, as he, with his silly banter and infectious laugh, was the first person to make her laugh and forget her worries since fleeing England and the suspicious car accident.
Soon they were talking like old friends, but Tom knew she was keeping a lot in reserve. What was it about the accident she'd referred to briefly? The shadow of sadness that passed over her lovely face occasionally made him determined to know more about her. She aroused protective instincts in him he'd barely been aware of, a strong desire to cherish her, to keep her safe ... forever. She was also subtly, but disturbingly sexy. He gave thanks for the wild storm that had kept them in the Coffee Pot, rain and wind battering at the windows.
Suddenly he realised - he had found The One, as his great-grandmother had predicted. And she really hadn't the faintest idea who he was, his famous old family, his wealth, his position.
Little did he know how vital to her future that decision to keep her safe and close to him would prove to be, as there was an evil force against her he knew nothing about ... yet.
